Questions people ask our insurance loss assessors.
At Truman Associates we get asked a lot of questions about what we do and how we do it. Here are a few examples; if you have a question that is not answered here, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
What is an insurance loss assessor, and why do I need one?
You should use the services of an insurance loss assessor when you are pursuing a claim with your insurance company. You and your loss assessor are normally the only persons involved in the case that have your best interests at heart.
The insurance company and their loss adjusters are practiced at dealing with claims effectively and to their own company’s advantage. However, you are unlikely to know what to do for the best because you do not make insurance claims every day. It is easy to make mistakes when making an insurance claims if you don't know all the rules. Your insurance assessor does know all the rules and can use them to help maximise your entitlement.
How can an insurance loss assessor help me claim more from my insurance company?
We do not encourage you to claim more than you are entitled to - but we do ensure you receive every penny you are entitled to. As insurance loss assessors, Truman Associates know how insurance policies work, and can help you be more effective with your time when it comes to making an insurance claim. An experienced insurance loss assessor will be much more effective in negotiating your legal and contractual entitlement – we deal with these issues every day, and so do the loss adjusters; claimants do not.
What is more, when you are making an insurance claim, the damage to or loss of property that you have just suffered may not leave you in the best frame of mind to dispassionately negotiate the most effective deal.
Isn't it expensive to hire an insurance loss assessor?
Like any good professional we charge for our service, but we shouldn't cost you. Our insurance loss assessors charge only a small percentage of the eventual claim settlement – so our charges are usually offset by the extra money we negotiate for you.
Why don't you work for motor insurance or personal injury claims?
Although the principles are the same for all types of insurance claim, we specialise in claims for property damage and loss through theft, flood and fire damage, for your home or business. If you have been the victim of personal injury or a motor accident, we can suggest the right specialist to help you with your claim.
Can you help me with my fire insurance claim?
We are specialists in helping people make effective claims. If your business or your home has fallen victim to fire damage, it is not enough to telephone your insurance company with details of your claim – you can put your case so much more effectively if you have a professional loss assessor on your side.
We work on behalf of a whole range of different businesses: we recently helped a firm of solicitors with their fire claim, which we were told at the end exceeded their expectations by £16,000.
